Overview

Restaurante Gabi, nestled on C. Quitapenas in Málaga-Este, captures the essence of coastal Andalusian dining with a focus on fresh, grilled seafood served right beside the shore. This location, set against the soothing backdrop of El Palo beach, offers an authentic experience that combines culinary tradition with the undeniable charm of beachfront ambience.

The heart of the menu lies in its masterful handling of fresh fish and shellfish. Dishes like Espeto de Sardinas—sardines skewered and grilled over an open flame—are a regional specialty, highlighted here with exceptional skill. The Paella Mixta brings a harmonious mix of seafood and rice, reflecting local flavors in every bite. Other standout plates such as the Pata de Pulpo A la Brasa and Dorada reveal the kitchen’s devotion to grilling seafood perfectly, preserving its natural taste and texture.

Restaurante Gabi’s commitment to wood-fire grilling sets it apart from more conventional urban eateries. The fresh fish is grilled right before your eyes, lending an interactive dimension to the meal. This open-flame technique, combined with proximity to the sea, amplifies the authenticity and freshness that diners crave. Complementing the seafood are classic Andalusian starters like Tomate Aliñado, which spotlight simple, quality ingredients elevated by expert preparation.

The space itself balances casual and refined effortlessly. The terrace, brushing up against the beach, invites both locals and travelers looking for a relaxed yet memorable gastronomic outing. The atmosphere is enhanced by attentive service—warm, knowledgeable, and accommodating, with staff often conversing easily in English, making it accessible for international guests.

Restaurante Gabi’s target audience includes seafood lovers who appreciate a traditional Spanish lunch or dinner, travelers seeking authentic regional cuisine, and anyone who values dining with a view. The venue encourages leisurely meals, with patrons often lingering to enjoy both the culinary craftsmanship and the coastal panorama.

In summary, Restaurante Gabi is a must-visit dining spot in Málaga for those who want fresh grilled seafood served with heartfelt hospitality in an idyllic beachside setting. Whether you’re drawn by the famed sardines, the rich black rice, or the tender pulpo, this restaurant delivers a true taste of Andalusia’s maritime heritage.

The best fish we ever had, paired with great local wine! Everyone suggested El Palo for fresh seafood and Gabi was definitely the right place for it. Make sure to order grilled stuff instead of fried. I think what made them different than city restaurants was that great grill right at the beach. Addition to delicious food, service was perfect too. Staff is really attentive, ready to help with a smile and young guys were speaking perfect English. Enjoyed the view and the food, definitely would come again.

We had the perfect experience at Restaurante Gabi! Jesus and the rest of the team treated us with excellent, friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hour Spanish lunch- the way it should be!- and can highly recommend the super delicious fresh fish cooked right in front of us on the open flame. The view of El Palo beach adds to the relaxed ambience and the overall experience. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is a great reason to travel to Malaga. Take a taxi to El Palo and sit down at the terrace right next to the beach. We ordered the tomatoes with garlic, sardines and fresh fish from the bbq. Fantastic food and wine, nice atmosphere. We came back the next day.

Great place to eat fresh food from the beach grill! Sardines are amazing! The best eggplant chips with "melasa dip" I've ever ate in Andalucia. Portions are big and with great not to high prices. But unfortunately we get pulpo frito in cut pieces not as a whole octopus.

This place is by far one the best if not the best place to eat in El Palo and maybe Malaga. Their rice is amazing. The sea food is so fresh, and everything else is top! Don’t go during rush hours and especially weekend, the wait can go up to 2-3 hours which is insane. But I think they’re doing their best to find a seat and to respect the list. So make a reservation before! So worth the wait because the staff is efficient and super friendly. I ate there over 5 times and will definitely come back. It’s a must! Don’t miss it.
